It is the perfect place to take your kids outdoors for a fun activity with the family. Hadden Estates also opened their own winery, where you can enjoy charcuterie boards and socialize with friends.

Historic Old Gaol

šŸš— Tour the oldest standing masonry jail in Georgia! Completed in 1807, the jail has remained in tact for 200 years, and was last used in 1890. The building has 2ft thick walls, two stories, and even a trapdoor!

Everyone loves some ice cream on a hot summer day! Not only does Webster’s Pharmacy have ice cream for $1.00, but they have the cutest mural for you to pose with a scoop of your favorite flavor!

In downtown Sparta, the murals provide a picturesque backdrop for a selfie. From the bee and butterfly murals to the pocket garden mural featuring Bishop Holsey and Bishop Pierce, each tells a unique story of the community. Taking a selfie in front of these vibrant artworks captures the beauty of small-town life intertwined with history and nature.

Mt. Zion Church in Sparta

One of Sparta’s historic landmarks would be a wonderful place to see and visit. There is a Georgia on My Mind voice box just off the porch that features interesting stories and history of the building. The stories those old, crackled walls could tell!

In downtown Sandersville, a series of great murals captures the beauty of the town’s history and spirit. Among them, a sentimental refreshment invites visitors to snap a selfie in front of a vintage Coca-Cola advertisement. Nearby, a mural celebrates the achievements of a local Olympic Gold Medalist, while another pays tribute to Private Willie Lee Duckworth, Sr.. These murals serve as vibrant reminders of Sandersville’s rich heritage and community pride.

Nestled amidst echoes of the past, Hamburg State Park offers a blend of history and outdoor pursuits. Situated by Hamburg Lake, the campground has shaded sites with modern amenities including hot showers and electric hookups. Anglers can reel in bass, crappie, and bream, while wildlife enthusiasts can spot turtles, alligators, and various birds. The park features a functioning 1921 gristmill and a museum showcasing antique agricultural tools from rural Georgia.

Tennille, GA’s train depot, a post-war reconstruction, stands as a quiet yet significant landmark. Its charming patio offers a spot to watch passing trains, while nearby, a historical marker tells of the history of Tennille and how Sherman’s march nearly destroyed the railroad. This space is also part of the Jefferson Davis Heritage Trail, and is a place where history and present converge.

The Brown House Museum is filled with history! This old historic home was restored and is now a museum full of artifacts, period furniture, and more. A fun fact about this particular home, is that General Sherman headquartered there in 1864 during his March to the Sea. He had meetings, dined with family, and took naps there.
